Don’t worry, there’s a TL:DR at the end for those of you (Amy) with no attention span.
After a late evening of arguing with some code, we are back and better than ever.
How are we better than ever? Well, we now have hall of the features we had before the Great Pinterest API Debacle (hey we’re young, we’ll probably have more, but for now this was a milestone event).
Since we were concerned the API issues could have taken a while to resolve we worked to make sure there were plenty of awesome things to spin.
Now when you log into the web app (don’t worry, this is coming to the Android App ASAP) you’ll see not only all of those familiar Pinterest categories, including Most Popular and Newest, but you’ll find PicPlz and TwitPic, too.
What does this mean?
It means that you may never run out of pretty or fascinating things to see and pin again. . . well, until we hit a rate limit.
What’s a rate limit?
Pinterest is so dang popular that there are lots of folks, including us, who use the API. Right now they simply throttle access to this resource and if we hit the rate limit, we just have to wait a little while until access is restored. (You’ll probably see a small note about rate limit as you try to log in). Internet old timers will remember the days of the fail whale on Twitter; this is reminiscent of that. Don’t worry, we’ll get through it, just have patience, please.
Now that we’re working properly I can tell Paul to get back into his cave and work on the iPhone App. (Actually we both live in coastal SC, there are no caves, but I haven’t had enough coffee yet and can’t think of a better metaphor)
For the TL:DR crowd:
- We’re back with all of the old features + new
- Sometimes it may not look like we’re back, but that’s because Pinterest only gives us so much access in any given (unspecified) period of time.
- iOS is not forgotten, it’s not even on the back burner.
- Get to spinning.
Have fun!
